As the controller at FSO Capital, Jake Fuhr is responsible for a wide range of financial management duties. He oversees annual compliance, manages tax returns, audits, and distribution processes. Jake’s responsibilities include tax strategy, risk management, financials controls, and the management of consolidated financial statements. Mr. Fuhr also oversees the monthly reporting from property management. Jake has advanced experience with private real estate funds, navigating layer cake income allocations, handling investment tax credits, and Subchapter K of the Internal Revenue Code.

Before joining the team, he served as a Senior Associate at RSM US LLP, where he focused on tax consulting and compliance initiatives, specializing in financial statement analysis and accounting for diverse clients, including private real estate groups, national renewable energy developers, and major privately owned construction companies. Notably, he earned the distinction of being nominated as the first-choice advisor, a prestigious recognition bestowed upon only 200 individuals at the firm.

In 2022, Jake took charge of reviewing the annual filing requirements for both the buy and sell sides of a substantial 14-property portfolio, with a transaction value exceeding $200MM. He also played a pivotal role in preparing and reviewing the annual filing requirements for a national renewable energy developer, responsible for projects totaling $1.5B being placed in service that year, in collaboration with some of the largest banks globally. As an engagement manager, Jake successfully developed and mentored staff, ensuring compliance with strict deadlines during the 4 demanding spring and fall busy seasons he spent at RSM.

A proud graduate Cum Laude with a BBA in Accounting & Finance from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire, Jake holds a Certified Public Accountant designation in Minnesota. Recently relocating to Scottsdale in the fall of 2023, Jake balances his professional pursuits with personal interests. Outside the office, he finds joy in golfing, hiking, and playing hockey.
